Mike Kras was not going to give his European title away, If you wanted it you were going to have to take it.
Yentel had crashed out of race one in Germany and we weren’t able to get James to Russia. The championship had turned into a two horse race.
In Switzerland last weekend Mike had to finish in front of Brad in race one to take it to the final race of the season. What did he do?
Holeshot !! lead the race, with his team mate in second.
Mike was riding tight and James was smoother and went by. Mike being the experienced rider he is followed for a few laps to pull him away from the field and finish an easy second .taking the fight to the last race on Sunday.
Again Mike was out front making everyone else work for it, all he could do was try and win the race and see what happened behind.
Instead what happened, happened to him. on lap six our bike stopped mechanical DNF .
Mike’s season had be so strong he was far enough in front of third place in the championship to stand a DNF and still keep second place and the silver medal.
Mike Kras was a worthy champion and defended it fiercely and in doing so represented our team superbly.
He’s not a charitable person .but he has been kind enough to lend out his title for a year.
But be warned in 2018 Mike Kras wants it back.
